Booking Policies:
-Winding Path Wellness is available by appointment only.
-New client appointments will be booked for an additional 15 minutes to review forms and complete a full in-person intake.
-The studio is located in a residential area and parking is limited. Please do not arrive more than 5-10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
-Clients must provide a card on file to hold appointments.
-Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled 24 hours or more in advance without penalty.
-Appointments that must be cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a fee not exceeding 50% of the value of the scheduled service.
-If you are running late, please contact me as soon as you anticipate a delay.
-Late arrival may result in a shortened session. Regular service rate will still apply.
-No call, no show appointments will be charged in full to the card on file.
-If I need to cancel or reschedule your appointment for personal reasons, any fees/penalties will be waived.
-Short notice fees may be waived as a courtesy on a case-by-case basis at my discretion in the event of illness or emergency.
Professional Policies:
Scope of Practice:
-Massage therapy is defined as the application of a system of structured touch to the soft tissues of the human body with the hand, foot, knee, arm, or elbow, whether or not the structured touch is aided by hydrotherapy, thermal therapy, a massage therapy device, or application to the body of herbal, non-prescription topical treatments.
-I adhere to the ethical standards of the American Massage Therapy Association.
-As a massage therapist, I cannot diagnose or prescribe treatment for medical conditions.
-Certain symptoms or conditions may contraindicate the application of some or all massage techniques and may require referral to another medical professional for assessment.
Client/Therapist Boundaries:
-I am happy to adjust pressure, technique, area of focus, temperature, music selection or volume, etc. to assure client comfort. Communicate your preferences, and I will make every effort to accommodate them.
-I am happy to listen to your conversation and share my professional expertise, but I prefer not to engage on religious, political, or private matters.
-Conversations between client and therapist will remain confidential.
-Clients should undress to their level of comfort.
-Clients will remain modestly draped at all times. Only the current area being massaged will be undraped at any time.
-Work on the chest, low back, hips, and/or gluteal area may be performed through clothing or draping if preferred.
-No one under the age of 18 may receive massage except in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.
-Sexual innuendo or discussion will not be tolerated.
-Any request for sexual activity of any kind will be viewed as solicitation. The session will end immediately, and the incident will be reported to the proper authorities. Card on file will be charged for the full amount of the appointment, and the client will be barred from rebooking any future services.
Informed Consent:
-Clients will be provided with a copy of policies and procedures at their initial intake appointment. To proceed with treatment, they will need to sign the form affirming they have read, understood, and agree to abide by practice policies.
-Clients have the right to decline, withdraw consent to continue with a particular technique or area of focus, or end a session at any time.
-Massage can sometimes be intense, but it should not be painful. Please notify me immediately if you experience sudden, sharp, or intolerable pain during your session so that I can adjust pressure or technique.
-In the day or two following a session, clients may experience mild soreness comparable to what you might expect following any moderately strenuous activity. If soreness/discomfort exceeds this duration or intensity, please communicate that so that I can make note on your chart and adjust your next session.
-Client is responsible for completing all medical history and intake paperwork as thoroughly and accurately as possible.
-Client is responsible for updating their forms with any new medicaitons, medical diagnoses, or treatments they may be undergoing.
-Client is responsible for providing any consent/treatment release forms that your therapist may request from other healthcare professionals in order to ensure safety and transparency across your care team.
-If you know or suspect that you are pregnant and you wish to receive massage in the first trimester, please be aware that I require a doctor or midwife's note verifying that yours is a low risk pregnancy and that you are cleared for massage.
Special Tools and Modalities Policies:
Cupping:
-Cupping can leave painless bruise-like marks on the body that may persist for several days following treatment.
-Cupping is not recommended for those taking anticoagulant medications or experiencing uncontrolled high blood pressure, severe diabetes, cancer, recent stroke, organ failure, or pregnancy.
-Cupping cannot be performed on areas of broken or irritated skin, acute injury, or certain endangerment sites.
-Clients who wish to receive cupping must sign an additional waiver stating that they understand and accept these risks.
Percussion:
-Use of the Theragun on areas of deep, chronic tension is likely to result in soreness.
-Theragun percussion is not recommended for use on clients who are using anticoagulant medications or who bruise easily, have uncontrolled high blood pressure, severe diabetes, cancer, recent stroke, organ failure, or pregnancy.
-Theragun percussion cannot be used on areas of broken or irritated skin, acute injury, or certain endangerment sites.
-Clients who wish to receive Theragun percussion massage must sign and additional waiver stating that they understand and accept these risks.
Sugar Scrub:
-Sugar scrub will be made to order using coconut oil, raw sugar, and essential oils or oil blends supplied by the practice.
-Clients with known allergies or sensitivities to any of the oils or other ingredients in the sugar scrub must notify their therapist at least 24 hours in advance of their appointment so that suitable alternatives can be provided.
-Clients may provide their own essential oils or oil blends to be approved for use at the therapist's discretion.
-Clients who suspect that they may be experiencing an allergic reaction following treatment should consult an appropriate medical professional immediately.
-Clients who wish to receive a sugar scrub must sign an additional waiver stating that they understand and accept these risks.
Membership and Billing Policies:
-Clients must have a card on file in order to hold appointments. Please refer to Booking Policies for details on short notice rescheduling/cancellation and No Show fees.
-The card on file will not be charged until the time of service. You may use a different payment method at that time if you wish.
-I accept cash, credit/debit, Venmo, and CashApp.
-Clients who wish to pay with cash will receive a 10% discount.
-Cash discount does not apply to membership dues.
-Single session monthly memberships roll over unused service credits for one month before expiring.
-Two session monthly memberships do not roll over. Unused service credits expire at the end of the month.
-I will make every effort to contact members to schedule the service(s) included in their membership. If a member allows service credits to roll over or expire for two consecutive months, membership will be frozen indefinitely until member contacts the practice to reactivate it.
